Kate Levin
Director of Strategic Outreach
Kate Levin is the Director of Strategic Outreach for the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF), where she has been shaping educational programs and building nationwide networks to empower state legislative leaders since 2018. In her role, Kate focuses on fostering collaboration and equipping leaders with the tools to address complex policy and leadership challenges.
Prior to joining SLLF, Kate served as Deputy Communications Director for the Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly, crafting innovative communication strategies, and managing media relations. Before her work in government, Kate was an Emmy Award-winning journalist, reporting on major crimes, court cases, and politics. Her career in broadcast news took her to stations in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin, always staying close to her Chicago roots. With experience spanning public, private, and nonprofit sectors, Kate brings a well-rounded perspective and a deep understanding of effective communication strategies, and how to tailor them to different audiences.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism, with minors in Political Science and History. Kate lives in Madison, Wisconsin, with her husband, Phil, and their two young sons. In her free time, she enjoys DIY projects, bread-making, and spending time on the water—whether swimming, sailing, or paddleboarding. She is also a passionate advocate for organ donation, inspired by her father’s bilateral lung transplant in 2023.
