SLLF Meets in "Sunny" Florida!
While it may have been raining outside, the future is bright for the State Legislative Leaders Foundation as discussed at SLLF's Board Meeting and Leadership Forum. President Steve Lakis recounted a very successful 2015 and projected good things ahead for the organization in 2016 and beyond! Building on outstanding forums across the country in 2016 from Oregon to Tennessee, SLLF will focus on criminal justice reform (New Orleans) and Presidential Leadership (Mt. Vernon, Alexandria, Virginia) in 2016 along with other meetings in Hawaii, Vermont and British Columbia. Further, President Lakis solidified SLLF's growing relationship with China by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) to conduct a series of meetings here and in China over the next several years.
To wrap things up, Charlie Cook offered his insights into the fascinating 2016 Presidential election, suggesting that while Donald Trump is currently atop the polls for the GOP nomination, it is likely to come down to a two-man race between Senators Marco Rubio (FL) and Ted Cruz (TX). On the Democratic side, while more than expected are “feeling the Bern” for Bernie Sanders (including Charlie's own daughter), he expects Hillary to be the nominee. As for the general election, Charlie predicts it seems likely that Rubio would present a serious challenge for Clinton.
